Around 4 lessons should get you going with basic skills and another 5 to 10 sessions on the water should see you going upwind. We recommend students to get out on the water and practice with their own gear as soon as possible. For continuous beach support we encourage our previous students to practise near us, so we can keep a watchful eye on them or join the Stoked kitesurfing Facebook Group, where people can ask for advice, meet new people and team up to help each other out.
Yes. Kitesurfing is actually a very easy sport, especially if you are reasonably fit and you are keen enough to persist and learn. It can be difficult to schedule lessons though if the wind doesn't oblige. Flying a trainer kite will accelerate you learning. Go for it!
No, you don’t need to be strong at all. All of the power of the kite is taken through your harness, and you only use your arms to control the kite, much like a paraglider or skydiver controls a parachute.
Kite surfing is Not dangerous if you do lesson from a certified and experienced instructor/school. You will progress a lot quicker, it will be a far better experience and you'll get a good understanding of all kite equipment, safety aspects, location and wind direction plus more.
However, kitesurfing can be really dangerous if you try to take on the sport by yourself. Don't take the risk and miss out on a fun and enjoyable new sport.
